Lizzie Fitch/Ryan Trecartin, Solo Cup, 2014 / £4.00
Engraved enamel pin badge
Especially designed by the artists and produced for the Zabludowicz Collection to accompany the exhibition Priority Innfield, 2013.
Commissioned for The Encylopedic Palace at the 55th Venice Biennale, and supported by the Collection, Priority Innfield was for many the highlight of the Biennale.
Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin met in 2000 while studying their BFAs at Rhode Island School of Design and began collaborating almost straightaway. Since graduating both artists developed and maintained solo practices that have informed and inevitably merged with their work together, establishing the Fitch-Trecartin Studio in Los Angeles in 2010. Lizzie Fitch produces sculptural works that draw on the easy desirability of retail clothing, home decor and furniture accessed through online browsing, combining them with fragmentary references to the human body and prosthetics in seemingly casual or DIY structures. Both humorous and disturbing, her sculptures transform the everyday, framing it through screen like devices and pro-sumer imaging technology.
